  • Quest 1-1 Fight Day - Bradford (3rd March 2013)

    Scorpions took a group of mostly novice fighters to the recent 1-1 competition at Bradford. Well done to all who competed and keep up the hard work, here are their results:

    Isabelle Adamsons won 27-6 (stoppage) against Liverpool Elite

    Holly Frost won 15-13 against Chi Taekwondo

    Niomi Whitehead won on golden point after drawing 9-9 against Viper Taekwondo

    Kevin Lidgett won also on golden point after drawing 5-5 against Premier Taekwondo

    Eben Thompson won 2 matches:

    1st match won 8-1 against Kings

    2nd match won 14-6 against Kangchul

    Shane Burgin also won 2 matches against:

    1st match won by K.O against Unite Tkd

    2nd match won 7-0 against Quest Tkd

    Ryan Holmes & Ben Stevens also competed

  • Referee course

    Well Done to the following Scorpions who recentley passed their British Taekwondo Judges qualifications.

    Scorpion Instructor Michelle Lettin successfully passed her Class 1 Centre Referee Refresher course and Gill Fairbrother was promoted from a class 2 Centre Referee to a Class 1.

    Tracey Tucker successfully passed her Class 3 Corner Judge Refresher Course and Jason Frost qualified as a Class 3 Corner Judge for the 1st time.

  • Swedish Open 2013

    Well Done to Daniel Brown on winning his first A Class Medal at this years Trelleborg Open in Sweden.

    9yr old Daniel who competed in the childrens -30kgs division received a bye before facing Olsen, Frederik Emil. Olsen won his 1st match against Denmark 3-0 before facing Daniel in the semi final. Daniel fought excellent drawing the match 5-5 and losing out on a close golden point round. Olsen went on to win the final 6-0. A massive well done on his Bronze medal.

    Other Scorpions to compete were:

    Emily Watson in the Junior Female -46kgs, who again had a tough draw facing Charanawat, Napaporn of Thailand National Team, the Thai player winning her 1st match against Russia 25-1. Emily fought excellent against the very good player from Thailand losing a very close head shot match 11-14. Ben Tucker was another Junior to compete this time in Junior male -68kgs. Ben won his 1st match against Denmarks Mlvig, Jonas 12-10 before losing out to the outstanding Thailand National Team Player Rachwongsa, Danunai.

    Senior Players Caroline Fisher in thr senior female -53kgs won her 1st match 5-2 against Sweden before losing out in her quarter final to Russia 4-5. Niall Gibson lost out to Serbia 5-9 and Stella Whitehead lost to Holland.

  • NTC Open 2013

    A Great Start to the year saw a small Scorpion Team win 3rd Place Team Trophy at the NTC Open. This year NTC was run on the Daedo electronic scoring system for cadet/junior & senior players in the A Class categorys.

    GOLD medals were won by BRANDON NAYLOR (Scorpion Tkd Centre) in the Junior male -55kgs, Brandon defeating Kristian Kinnon from Scotland in the semi-final before an all Naylor final against brother Dominic (Scorpion Tkd Centre) who won SILVER after he won his semi-final against Kanghan. DANIEL BROWN (Scorpion Tkd Centre) was again on top form winning 3 matches in the peewee male -30kgs division adding another GOLD medal to his collection. He also competed for the 1st time in the cadet -33kgs giving away 3kgs & and still only 9yrs old, fought really well winning his 1st match against SWAT before losing out to the much stronger Mason Yarrow from Ultimate. OLIVER BALL (TM Scorpion) also won again in peewee noivce -23kgs, winning 4 matches on his way to GOLD. Oliver won his 1st match 19-3 against NTC, 2nd match 14-1 against WLM, he then won his semi-final 7-0 against Central of Scotland before winning by K.O in the final. Double Gold for the Ball brothers with ASHLEY BALL (TM Scorpion) also winning GOLD in the Cadet Novice -33kgs. Ashley won his semi-final against Quest 4-1 to set up an all Scorpion final against Shane Burgin (Scorpion Tkd Centre) who won his semi-final against also against Quest 7-2. Shane competeing in two divisions lost out in the cadets to his Scorpion Team mate Ashley, shane winning SILVER. Shane also won silver in peewee novices -30kgs, winning 2 matches before losing out in the final. TOM SMITH (Edlington Scorpions) also won GOLD in the cadet male -49kgs division after winning his final against NTC. LAURIE MCLELLAND (Edlington Scorpions) was another Gold medal winner in the junior female novice -63kgs, winning her final against Buzz Tkd.

    There was also a SILVER medal for KEVIN LIDGETT (Scorpion Tkd Centre) in the senior male -87kgs, Kev won his semi-final 1-0 against Milton Keynes before losing out in the final against Ultimate. Bronze medal for IAN BALL (TM Scorpion) in the senior novice division, Ian losing out 10-5 in his semi-final match.

  • Scorpion Taekwondo Centre - End Of Year Awards 2012

    The following students received Awards for Outstanding Achievement throughout 2012.

    All had an amazing 2012, Ryan Holmes won his award for the most improved throughout 2012 with his silver medal at the National Championships being his biggest achievement to date. Daniel Brown was another silver medal winner at the National Championships, winning 4 matches on his way to the final in the children's division, Daniel won 13 medals from 8 national or international Championships throughout 2012. Caroline Fisher was 1 of 5 British Champions from 2012 winning the GB National Championships for the 12th time a truely amazing achievement, however selection to the GB National Senior Team for the European Championships in Manchester was her highlight where she won Britain a European Bronze Medal. Stella Whitehead was another Scorpion player to represent the GB National Senior Team at the European Championships and also won Gold at the British National Championships for the 9th time. Emily Watson won numerous Open Championships as well as International medals in Germany & Croatia and also won the British National Championships in the Junior -46kgs. Ben Talman was our 4th gold medal winner at the National Championships winning senior heavy weight, Ben after a long lay off had an excellent year winning every open championships he entered. Our last achiever was Niall Gibson who again won numerous competitions throughout the year including the British National Championships where he won 4 matches on his way to gold. Niall was also selected for the national GB Team for the -21 European Championships.

  • Park Pokal 2012

    Scorpions took a team of 5 players to this years Park Cup held in sindelfingen, Germany. 93 teams took part over the two days of competition that was split into advanced/ novices & also veteran categorys.

    Scorpions only had players competing in the advanced Junior & Senior divisions and came back with a silver & bronze. NIALL GIBSON won his 1st senior international medal, winning BRONZE at senior male -63kgs, Niall won 2 matches before losing out by 1 point in the semi-final to Austria. EMILY WATSON was on the podium again this time winning a SILVER medal in the Junior Female -46kgs division, winning her semi-final against Germany lost out in an unlucky final by 4-5. Well done also to our other competitors Ben Tucker, Brandon & Dominic Naylor.

  • Emily wins Sports Award

    Congratulations to Scorpion Student Emily Watson on winning the Doncaster Free Press Super Kids Sports Award.

    Emily won the award after being recognized by the Doncaster Free Press for her achievements over the last few years, winning a Bronze Medal at the Cadet European Championships, selected as part of the Junior National Talent Squad, winning numerous International medals and on becoming British Champion again this year at Junior Level.

  • Dome 1-1 Sparring Competition 2nd December 2012

    Well Done to all the Scorpions who competed at the Dome 1-1.

    Scorpions were their in numbers with TM Scorpions & Edlington Scorpions both also in attendance.

    Scorpion Tkd Centre had a small team of 4 players, RYAN HOLMES finished the year off with a win winning his opponent from Liverpool 14-12. ISABELLE ADAMSONS won 2 matches after a year of competing against much heavier opponents in the open events Isabelle finally faced two girls her own weight winning her 1st match by a wopping 44-2 against Liverpool Elite and then won her 2nd match against another Liverpool club 16-15. KEVIN LIDGETT lost his match against this years British Champion at his weight and SHANE BURGIN was tested against an advanced player only losing out by a score of 8-10.

  • Quest Yorkshire Open 2012

    Another fantastic day for Scorpion Taekwondo. Scorpions took a small team of 4 players to this years Yorkshire Open held in Bradford.

    Scorpions won 4 GOLD, 1 silver & 1 Bronze.

    SHANE BURGIN won 2 GOLD'S on the day competing in two age divisions winning both categorys. Shane won the peewee novice -30kgs division in style winning 4 matches altogether. Shane won his 1st match after the referee stopped the contest at 4-0, his 2nd match was won again by stoppage this time 12 point gap after round two. Shane won his semi-final after his opponent refused to fight putting Shane through to the final against Liverpool where he won the match and his 1st Gold of the day 11-4. Shanes 2nd GOLD was won in the cadet novice -30kgs division. Shane competing against children much older than him won his semi-final 10-2 against Quest Tkd before winning his final with a 2nd round stoppage by the referee after leading 9-0. A massive well done to Shane!

    DANIEL BROWN was another double medal winner, winning GOLD & BRONZE in the peewee & cadet advanced -30kgs divisions. Daniel won Gold in his own age division winning his semi-final 24-22 before an early stoppage in the final after leading 23-3. He then went on to win a well deserved bronze medal in cadets, Daniel did brilliant again in the higher age group winning his 1st match against Black Widow player Jake Gray 6-4 he then lost narrowly in the semi final against Jamie Kidd. Well Done Daniel

    BEN TALMAN won another GOLD at senior male heavy weight. Ben was on fine form winning both his matches with ease. He won his semi-final by K.O against MMHS then won his final match against Quest Tkd by 12 point gap 13-1 in 3rd round.

    SCOTT SUTHERILL was our other medal winner, winning silver in the senior male -68kgs. Scott won his semi final by 12 point gap 15-3 before losing out in the final.

Scorpion Taekwondo clubs are professionally run and offer high quality taekwondo tuition. All of our instructors are Black Belts and have been CRB checked and are registered with the British Taekwondo the National governing body for WTF Taekwondo in the UK. Scorpion Taekwondo run several clubs throughout England and Scotland and we are one of the few clubs whose members have represented Great Britain at the Olympics, World Championships, European Championships, Commonwealth Championships, World Cup and World Student Games. At club level, we have been the winners of the British National Championships at both Junior and Senior A class level in 2007, 2008 & 2009, and we were also overall Team Champions in 2007 and 2008. As well as providing training from beginner level through to Olympic standard, we also offer a fully stocked shop, video analysis room, male and female changing with showers, permanent Olympic standard flooring and most importantly off all, a comfortable viewing area for parents with hot and cold drinks available. Please don't be put off by our achievements as everyone has to start somewhere and in no time at all, you get to know all the members of the club and feel 100% at home.
