What a brilliant 4 days at the European Championships, not only did Britain win a massive 3 Golds and 4 Bronze medals but one of our very own (Caroline Fisher) was one of the medal winners.
Caroline was on the last day of the Championships on sunday and was one of two athletes to medal, Martin Stamper (Academy athlete) won bronze in the male -68kgs division while Caz won bronze in the female -53kgs group. Caroline received a bye in the 1st round and had to wait to find out who her 1st opponent would be. She faced Chykolba, Yuliia of the Ukraine National Team. the 22 yr old won a bronze medal at the Serbian Open in 2011. Caz won her match with a clear victory of 5-1, the Ukrainian only scoring through deductions. Caz then faced Marino Torrado, Rebeca of the Spanish National Team in the quarter final, the Spanish girl winning her previous match against Melanie Hartung of Germany 12-0. Caz won her quarter final 8-1 to set up a semi-final match with the current WORLD CHAMPION from Croatia Ana Zaninovic. Caz finally lost out in the semi-final after a thrilling match of head shots 6-18. EUROPEAN BRONZE MEDAL for our Scorpion Caroline Fisher.
On Saturday Stella Whitehead who was also representing Great Britain at the Championships in the female -73kgs, lost out to Ikonen, Casandra of the Swedish National Team who won a Junior Bronze medal at last years Junior Europeans, Stella lost a very close match 3-4. Other massive interest to Scorpions on Saturday was Aaron Cook in the male -80kgs, Aaron winning his 2nd EUROPEAN SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS after defeating Azizov, Ramin of Azerbaijan (World no 1 & Aarons main opposition for this years Olympics) in the final. Other medal winners on saturday and another EUROPEAN CHAMPION was Michael Harvey (Academy Athlete) in the male -63kgs who won his weight division very convincingly winning his matches 13-1, 25-14,5-3 & his final 14-2 (12point gap) and the only other female medallist Jade Jones (Academy Athlete) won bronze in the female -57kgs.
Thursday saw Britain win their 1st medal after Amin Badr (Academy Athlete) won Bronze in the male -54kgs and then Friday was another fantastic day with Lutalo Muhammad (Academy Athlete) winning his 1st European title becoming EUROPEAN CHAMPION in the male -87kgs.
A massive well done to the whole British Team especially our girls.
And also a big thank you to all the Scorpion supporters who travelled over to Manchester

Scorpions took 4 players to this year's Paris Open in France over the weekend. Paris an A-Class International with only Olympic weight categories is one of the hardest events of the year with some competitors having to win 7 matches to win Gold in their groups.
Seniors were on day 1 with Caroline Fisher competing in the Female -57kgs which had 53 competitors and Niall Gibson in the Male -58kgs division which had 77 competitors. Both had good performances however were unable to win medals with both losing their 3rd matches of the day. Niall started off with victory over PINELLI NICOLAS of LIG LANGUEDOC ROUSSILLON (France) having drawn the match 9-9 he won on golden point. He then won his 2nd match 11-2 against ZARROUKI MILOUD of France. His 3rd opponant was Spainish National Team Player MARRON JAVIER (2009 World Bronze Medallist at -63kgs), Niall did a fantastic job and only lost 3-5 against the former World medallist. Caz Fisher was up next in the -57kgs division against BOULAICHE SOUROUR of France, Caz won this match 7-6, her 2nd match was against DORIA ANOUK of Monaco Caz was in fine form winning this match 15-1. Caroline then faced European Champion from France LIBORIO FLORIANE, Caz took a really bad low blow in the 1st exchange of the match and wasnt really able to recover and finally lost the match 3-9. Both seniors however did great performances.
The Juniors were on day 2, Emily Watson competing for the 1st time at Junior -44kgs with the weight divisions being mixed faced SIMANKOVA ADRIANA of the Czech Republic (Bronze medallist from the British Open) after a hard fought match the score was tied at 2-2 and went into sudden death.
