Dutch Open 2010

Scorpion Taekwondo took a team of 3 to this years Dutch Open held in Eindhoven, Holland. 955 competitors took part from across Europe, North & South America, Africa & Asia. The Championships also used the Daedo TK Strike Electronic scoring system, the same system that will be used at this years Senior European Championships in St. Peterburg, Russia.

The 2nd A-Class Competition in the space of 7 days for 2 of our athletes was going to be a tough test.

Stella Whitehead competed again in the senior female +73kgs. After a very good performance last week at the German Open where she won Bronze Stella went one better winning Silver this time out. Stella defeated Tihana Zivkovic (2009 Belgium Open Champion Jnr Heavy) of Croatia 5-3 in her 1st round match before beating German Daniela Nagle (Trelleborg Open Silver medallist 2010) 4-2. In the semi-final Stella faced Katherina Weiss of the German National Team again for the 2nd week running, Weiss winning the Bronze medal at last years European -21 Championships in Vigo. However Stella defeated Weiss this time by 10-5. In the final Stella faced 2010 Turkish Champion Tuba Abus in a very close & exciting final, Stella narrowly lost 3-4.SILVER Well Done!

Our other two players competed on sunday. In her 2nd International in one week Caroline Fisher fought again in the senior female -53kgs. Caz won Bronze last week at the German Open however this week was very unfortunate losing a very close 1st round match against Britanie Tavan of the French National Team 10-9. Scott Sutherill senior male -62kgs lost to Isreal National Team player Adam Sagir in the 1st round match.

Well Done to all 3 players who competed at the Dutch Open.
