  • Two more Scorpions make GB Talent Squad

    Two more Scorpions have made the GB National Talent Squad, this time at Junior level.

    Emily Watson & Aiden Morley have been chosen for the Great Britain Junior National Talent Squad and will attend a number of squad sessions at the GB National Taekwondo Academy in Manchester.

    Both had a great 2011 with Emily winning a Bronze medal at the European Cadet Championships and Aiden winning the British National Championships in Manchester.

    Congratulations from everyone at Scorpion Tkd and we wish them both luck for 2012!

  • Scorpions make Great Britain Cadet Talent Squads

    Congratulations to the 4 Scorpions selected for the Great Britain National Cadet Talent Squads.

    Ben Tucker (Scorpion Tkd Centre), Adam Warner (Scorpion Tkd Centre), Daniel Carpanini (Tony Morgans Scorpions) & Ben Carson (Tony Morgans Scorpions) have all been chosen for the GB Squad. Later this year they will all attend a number of training camps held at the Great Britain National Academy in Manchester.

  • Paris International Open 2011

    Scorpions took 4 players to this year's Paris Open in France over the weekend. Paris an A-Class International with only Olympic weight categories is one of the hardest events of the year with some competitors having to win 7 matches to win Gold in their groups.

    Seniors were on day 1 with Caroline Fisher competing in the Female -57kgs which had 53 competitors and Niall Gibson in the Male -58kgs division which had 77 competitors. Both had good performances however were unable to win medals with both losing their 3rd matches of the day. Niall started off with victory over PINELLI NICOLAS of LIG LANGUEDOC ROUSSILLON (France) having drawn the match 9-9 he won on golden point. He then won his 2nd match 11-2 against ZARROUKI MILOUD of France. His 3rd opponant was Spainish National Team Player MARRON JAVIER (2009 World Bronze Medallist at -63kgs), Niall did a fantastic job and only lost 3-5 against the former World medallist. Caz Fisher was up next in the -57kgs division against BOULAICHE SOUROUR of France, Caz won this match 7-6, her 2nd match was against DORIA ANOUK of Monaco Caz was in fine form winning this match 15-1. Caroline then faced European Champion from France LIBORIO FLORIANE, Caz took a really bad low blow in the 1st exchange of the match and wasnt really able to recover and finally lost the match 3-9. Both seniors however did great performances.

    The Juniors were on day 2, Emily Watson competing for the 1st time at Junior -44kgs with the weight divisions being mixed faced SIMANKOVA ADRIANA of the Czech Republic (Bronze medallist from the British Open) after a hard fought match the score was tied at 2-2 and went into sudden death. Emily losing on golden point. Our other Junior also lost 1st match Aiden Morley was handed another tough draw facing KULEMIN NIKITA of Russia, Aiden lost 1-13 to the eventual finallist in the -55kgs division which had 48 competitors.

  • Adam Warner wins Award!

    Congratulations to Scorpion Member Adam Warner who has just won the ' Junior Performer of The Year Award 2011' at the Barnsley Sports Awards.

    Adam who was shortlisted for the event earlier in the Year beat off strong competition from other youngsters from Barnsley.

    Adam follows in the footsteps of Scorpion member Caroline Fisher who won the Senior Award last Year.

  • Scorpions in London For Olympic Test Event (London Prepares)

    Stella Whitehead will compete this weekend as part of the Great Britain Team that is competing at the Olympic Test Event at the Excel in London. Stella will compete in a World Class Field in the Female Heavy weight division and will compete on Sunday. Stella will face a previous opponant from Australia in the 1st Round Jasmin Cross. Good Luck to Stella!

    RESULT- Stella Defeated Jasmin Cross from Ausralia 4-1 then lost her quarter final against World Silver Medallist from Korea An Sae Bom 2-11. -73kgs World Champion Gwladys Apangue of France won the division after she defeated the Korean 3-2 in the semi-final.

    Good Luck also to the rest of the British Players competing

    Also at the Test Event Chief Instructor Peter Adamsons & Kimberley Gibson are working as NTO's and Caroline Fisher, Scott Sutherill & Kieran Young are also their as Daedo Technicians.

    Adam who has had a fantastic Year winning many International medals and being selected to represent Great Britain at the European Championships held in Georgia in July, has made the short list in the group of ' Junior Performer of the Year 2011'

  • 3rd Future Champions Championships 30th October 2011

    Scorpions won another Team Trophy this time 1st Place at this years Future Champions Championships held at Barnsley Metrodome. This event for peewees, Cadets & Juniors only is for the stars of the future and had more than 130 players from around the north of England & Scotland.

    Scorpions won 8 Golds, 7 Silvers & 6 Bronze medals.

    Gold Medal winners! Daniel Brown was in one of the biggest groups winning 3 matches in the peewee male -30kgs Advanced division. Daniel only blue tag won his 1st match against Kai Law of Swat 7-5 before defeating the player from Pulse Tkd in the semi-final17-4 (12 point gap stoppage). He then won his final 19-4 again by 12 point gap stoppage. Daniel Brown won 2 golds winning another in the peewee male -30kgs novice group he won his semi-final against JM Tkd by K.O before winning his final against Adam Barrat of Danum Tkd 6-1. Ryan Butt won Gold in the children male -37kgs group, Ryan won with a superb K.O against JM Tkd in his semi-final before claiming victory in the final over Aaron Bretland of Tkd Academy Liverpool by golden point after he drew the match 5-5. Emily Watson was back to winning ways winning gold in the Junior Female -42kgs division. Emily won her semi-final against Olivia Harrison from Pulse Tkd 13-9 and then won her final against Asia Bailey from Central Tkd Scotland 10-6. Kieran Young again won Gold in the Junior Male -55kgs, Kieran who is on a great run won his semi-final against George Alexander from Southport by K.O and then his final against fellow Scorpion Aiden Morley 13-6. Ben Tucker also won again in his divsion in the children male +57kgs. Ben won his semi-final after the referee stopped the contest at 7-0 against against Lewis Scott of Koryo, Ben then won his final again against Luke Allott of Swat Tkd by 12 point gap 17-2. Hannah Mayes continued her form winning Gold again in the Junior heavy weight division winning her final match by K.O against Jade Bryan of Hosin-Sul Tkd. Brandon Naylor won Gold after his 1st time in the Junior Male -48kgs division, defeating Ben Morley of NTC in the final 9-6.

    Silver medals Daniel Carpanini was unlucky to lose his final in the children male -45kgs divsion. Daniel won his 1st match by K.O against Kangchuls Sonny Warburton before winning his semi-final against Tyron Moores Duffield of NTC 11-9. Daniel lost out in his final against Hassan Haider of Central Tkd Scotland 5-7. Aiden Morley current British Champion was another silver medallists, Aiden won his semi-final in the Junior male -55kgs division against Shamshudin Orshdin of Kangchul before losing to fellow Scorpion Kieran Young in the final. Terri-leigh Hennessey had a tough draw after being moved up a weight group with no entries in her weight division she then faced Abigail Stones of Tkd Academy Liverpool. Terri only green tag was up against it facing the Liverpool girl who was part of the GB National Cadet Team who travelled to Georgia earlier in the year. Terri-leigh lost the final 15-4 but gained valuable experience. Dominic Naylor came away with silver in the Junior Male -45kgs. Dominic defeated Jae Wynter Merrin of NTC 17-5 in the semi-final and then was very unlucky in the final after drawing his match 16-16 against Tyron Moores Duffield of NTC he lost on golden point. Ben Tucker won another medal on the day this time silver. Ben still 13yrs old competed in the junior male -63kgs. Ben had a great final and eventualy lost to Thomas Gater of Tkd Academy Liverpool 13-18. Ben Carson won silver in the children male -33kgs division. Ben won his semi-final against Chi Tkd 14-6 but lost out in his final. James Wood won silver in the children male -49kgs. after he lost to Ben Morley of NTC.

    Bronze medals were won by Ashley Ball in the children male -33kgs, Daniel Carpanini in the Junior Male -45kgs, Morgan Green in the peewee male -34kgs, Harmony Hayes in the peewee -30kgs, Kian Reynolds in the peewee male -26kgs and Adam Warner in the children male -41kgs divsion.

    Well Done to the whole Team who took Part,You were all really Great!

  • Ultimate "The Open" Championships 16th October 2011

    Scorpion took the short journey over to Sheffield for the next Open of the Year. 8 players took part with some competing in 2 divisions. The competition took place at the English Institute of Sport and had around 100 players taking part. Out of only 8 players Scorpions won 8 Golds, 2 silver & 2 Bronze medals and even took 2nd place in the Team Trophy.

    Gold Medal Performances! Scott Sutherill again took Gold in the higher weight class, Scott entering 2 weights higher than normal for extra matches won 3 matches in the Senior Male -74kgs. Scott defeated John Steele from Team Ultimate 16-14 then won his semi-final against Alex Constantin of Jeon-Sa 23-2. His final was a much closer affair against Sam Jones of Evolution drawing the match 13-13 Scott won Gold after winning on golden point. Kieran Young had a fantastic day winning 2 Gold's in the Junior Male -55kgs & Senior Male -58kgs divisions. Kieran was up 1st in the Junior category where he defeated Alex Needham of Team Ultimate 16-6 in his semi-final before winning his final against Shamsudin Orshdin of Kangchul 19-5 (12 point gap stoppage). In the Seniors Kieran won his semi-final against Ashley Hutton of Team Ultimate 19-11 and then won his final against Jamie Allen of Puma 24-15. Daniel Brown won another Gold medal in the higher grade group, competing in the advanced division at only green belt. Daniel won peewee -27kgs after winning Joe Latto of Team Ultimate 14-12 he then won his final against Kai Law of Swat 13-5. 4 players were in straight finals, Daniel Carpanini won gold in the children male -45kgs division by K.O after a very well timed head shot against Satar Wahid of Bozdag Tkd. Stella Whitehead was the next to win Gold by K.O after she stopped her opponent from Scotland with a reverse turning kick in the senior female +73kgs. Ben Tucker won his final in the children male +52kgs after winning his match 33-3 against Luke Allott of Swat Tkd and James Wood won the last Gold of the day in the children male -49kgs division after he defeated Alim Magdad of Bozdag Tkd 13-8.

    Silver Medals Daniel Brown won his 2nd medal of the day in the peewee novice -27kgs group, he defeated Jason Mann of Quest Tkd by K.O before losing a very close final against Oliver Hammond of Team Ultimate 20-25, Daniel B winning a Gold & Silver. Daniel Carpanini aged 13yrs again tried the higher age group and fought in the Junior male -45kgs and lost out in his final Alex Needham of Team Ultimate after a well fought match. Gold & Silver for Daniel C.

    Bronze Medals Ben Tucker won his 2nd medal of the day competing in the higher age group again Ben only 13yrs old came away with a Bronze after losing a very close semi-final against Jordan Lill of Team Ultimate 21-26. Gold & Bronze for Ben. Ryan Butt was unlucky to only come away with a Bronze in the children male -37kgs after he drew his semi-final against Finlay Benton of Team Ultimate 8-8, he lost out on golden point.

    Well Done to all 8 players who competed a fantastic set of results!

Scorpion Taekwondo clubs are professionally run and offer high quality taekwondo tuition. All of our instructors are Black Belts and have been CRB checked and are registered with the BTCB the National governing body for WTF Taekwondo in the UK. Scorpion Taekwondo run several clubs throughout England and Scotland and we are one of the few clubs whose members have represented Great Britain at the Olympics, World Championships, European Championships, Commonwealth Championships, World Cup and World Student Games. At club level, we have been the winners of the British National Championships at both Junior and Senior A class level in 2007, 2008 & 2009, and we were also overall Team Champions in 2007 and 2008. As well as providing training from beginner level through to Olympic standard, we also offer a fully stocked shop, video analysis room, male and female changing with showers, permanent Olympic standard flooring and most importantly off all, a comfortable viewing area for parents with hot and cold drinks available. Please don't be put off by our achievements as everyone has to start somewhere and in no time at all, you get to know all the members of the club and feel 100% at home.
