  • Dutch Masters 2012

    Scorpions have just returned back from Rotterdam in Holland where they were part of the BTCB Combined Team. The event had more than 700 competitors competing from peewee children all the way upto veterans. It also had 3 different grade divisions so novice fighters could also compete. There was also no headshots for peewees/children & cadets, however full WTF rules were applied to Junior & Senior with cadet/junior & senior competing on the Daedo EBP's.

    Scorpions has a small team taking part with 8 players, however we still came back with lots of trophys winning 4 Golds & 4 Bronze's. The winners are below:

    Gold's were won by Daniel Brown in the Cadet Male -28kgs B Class division, Daniel won his 2nd International events competing in the higher age group. He defeated Germany in the semi-final 13-1 before winning his final against another British player from Team Ultimate 2-0. Ben Tucker was another gold medal winner in the Cadet male +64kgs A Class. Ben defeated Holland in the semi-final 5-1 and then also won his final by the same score against Kosovo. Ben Talman won gold in his 1st International since returning from a long layoff. Ben was in the Senior Male +87kgs A Class. He won 3 matches winning 13-2 against Holland in his 1st match he then won his semi-final against another Dutch competitor 5-4 he went on to win his final against Henry Cookie competing for Holland 13-9 in the final. Our 4 th Gold was won by Kieran Young in the senior male -54kgs, Kieran defeated another British player in the final winning on golden point against Team Ultimate.

    Other trophy winners - Daniel Brown competed in two age divisions where he also won Bronze in the Peewee male -30kgs division, he won his 1st match 23-13 against Holland but was unlucky not to make the final after drawing 10-10 lost out on golden point to another Dutch player. Another double entrant was Ben Tucker who also won another trophy winning Bronze in the higher age group in Junior male -68kgs A Class. He defeated Holland 2-1 before he lost to Quest in the semi-final. Another player unlucky not to make the final was Terri-leigh Hennessey, who won Bronze in the cadet Female -32kgs B Class after drawing her semi-final 9-9 against Holland and lost out in the golden point round. Our last Bronze was won by another one of our Heavy weights, Daniel McGoeghan losing out in the semi-final to Henry Cookie of Holland 1-3.

    Other Scorpions who competed but didnt medal were Kevin Lidgett in the senior male -87kgs A Class losing a very close match 3-4 against a Dutch Military player and Ilja Dzidzula in the cadet male A Class -40kgs losing to Team Ultimate who went on to win the event.

    A fantastic performance from aall the players novice or experienced.
