Congratulations to Scorpion Member Adam Warner who has just won the ' Junior Performer of The Year Award 2011' at the Barnsley Sports Awards.
Adam who was shortlisted for the event earlier in the Year beat off strong competition from other youngsters from Barnsley.
Adam follows in the footsteps of Scorpion member Caroline Fisher who won the Senior Award last Year.
Well Done Adam!

Stella Whitehead will compete this weekend as part of the Great Britain Team that is competing at the Olympic Test Event at the Excel in London. Stella will compete in a World Class Field in the Female Heavy weight division and will compete on Sunday. Stella will face a previous opponant from Australia in the 1st Round Jasmin Cross. Good Luck to Stella!
RESULT- Stella Defeated Jasmin Cross from Ausralia 4-1 then lost her quarter final against World Silver Medallist from Korea An Sae Bom 2-11. -73kgs World Champion Gwladys Apangue of France won the division after she defeated the Korean 3-2 in the semi-final.
Good Luck also to the rest of the British Players competing
Also at the Test Event Chief Instructor Peter Adamsons & Kimberley Gibson are working as NTO's and Caroline Fisher, Scott Sutherill & Kieran Young are also their as Daedo Technicians.

Scorpion Student Adam Warner has been nominated in this years Barnsley Sports Awards.
Adam who has had a fantastic Year winning many International medals and being selected to represent Great Britain at the European Championships held in Georgia in July, has made the short list in the group of ' Junior Performer of the Year 2011'
Adam will attend the special event in Barnsley in December 'Good Luck Adam' !!!!

Scorpions won another Team Trophy this time 1st Place at this years Future Champions Championships held at Barnsley Metrodome. This event for peewees, Cadets & Juniors only is for the stars of the future and had more than 130 players from around the north of England & Scotland.
Scorpions won 8 Golds, 7 Silvers & 6 Bronze medals.
Gold Medal winners! Daniel Brown was in one of the biggest groups winning 3 matches in the peewee male -30kgs Advanced division. Daniel only blue tag won his 1st match against Kai Law of Swat 7-5 before defeating the player from Pulse Tkd in the semi-final17-4 (12 point gap stoppage). He then won his final 19-4 again by 12 point gap stoppage. Daniel Brown won 2 golds winning another in the peewee male -30kgs novice group he won his semi-final against JM Tkd by K.O before winning his final against Adam Barrat of Danum Tkd 6-1. Ryan Butt won Gold in the children male -37kgs group, Ryan won with a superb K.O against JM Tkd in his semi-final before claiming victory in the final over Aaron Bretland of Tkd Academy Liverpool by golden point after he drew the match 5-5. Emily Watson was back to winning ways winning gold in the Junior Female -42kgs division. Emily won her semi-final against Olivia Harrison from Pulse Tkd 13-9 and then won her final against Asia Bailey from Central Tkd Scotland 10-6. Kieran Young again won Gold in the Junior Male -55kgs, Kieran who is on a great run won his semi-final against George Alexander from Southport by K.O and then his final against fellow Scorpion Aiden Morley 13-6. Ben Tucker also won again in his divsion in the children male +57kgs. Ben won his semi-final after the referee stopped the contest at 7-0 against against Lewis Scott of Koryo, Ben then won his final again against Luke Allott of Swat Tkd by 12 point gap 17-2. Hannah Mayes continued her form winning Gold again in the Junior heavy weight division winning her final match by K.O against Jade Bryan of Hosin-Sul Tkd. Brandon Naylor won Gold after his 1st time in the Junior Male -48kgs division, defeating Ben Morley of NTC in the final 9-6.
Silver medals Daniel Carpanini was unlucky to lose his final in the children male -45kgs divsion. Daniel won his 1st match by K.O against Kangchuls Sonny Warburton before winning his semi-final against Tyron Moores Duffield of NTC 11-9. Daniel lost out in his final against Hassan Haider of Central Tkd Scotland 5-7. Aiden Morley current British Champion was another silver medallists, Aiden won his semi-final in the Junior male -55kgs division against Shamshudin Orshdin of Kangchul before losing to fellow Scorpion Kieran Young in the final. Terri-leigh Hennessey had a tough draw after being moved up a weight group with no entries in her weight division she then faced Abigail Stones of Tkd Academy Liverpool. Terri only green tag was up against it facing the Liverpool girl who was part of the GB National Cadet Team who travelled to Georgia earlier in the year. Terri-leigh lost the final 15-4 but gained valuable experience. Dominic Naylor came away with silver in the Junior Male -45kgs. Dominic defeated Jae Wynter Merrin of NTC 17-5 in the semi-final and then was very unlucky in the final after drawing his match 16-16 against Tyron Moores Duffield of NTC he lost on golden point. Ben Tucker won another medal on the day this time silver. Ben still 13yrs old competed in the junior male -63kgs. Ben had a great final and eventualy lost to Thomas Gater of Tkd Academy Liverpool 13-18. Ben Carson won silver in the children male -33kgs division. Ben won his semi-final against Chi Tkd 14-6 but lost out in his final. James Wood won silver in the children male -49kgs. after he lost to Ben Morley of NTC.
Bronze medals were won by Ashley Ball in the children male -33kgs, Daniel Carpanini in the Junior Male -45kgs, Morgan Green in the peewee male -34kgs, Harmony Hayes in the peewee -30kgs, Kian Reynolds in the peewee male -26kgs and Adam Warner in the children male -41kgs divsion.

Scorpion took the short journey over to Sheffield for the next Open of the Year. 8 players took part with some competing in 2 divisions. The competition took place at the English Institute of Sport and had around 100 players taking part. Out of only 8 players Scorpions won 8 Golds, 2 silver & 2 Bronze medals and even took 2nd place in the Team Trophy.
Gold Medal Performances! Scott Sutherill again took Gold in the higher weight class, Scott entering 2 weights higher than normal for extra matches won 3 matches in the Senior Male -74kgs. Scott defeated John Steele from Team Ultimate 16-14 then won his semi-final against Alex Constantin of Jeon-Sa 23-2. His final was a much closer affair against Sam Jones of Evolution drawing the match 13-13 Scott won Gold after winning on golden point. Kieran Young had a fantastic day winning 2 Gold's in the Junior Male -55kgs & Senior Male -58kgs divisions. Kieran was up 1st in the Junior category where he defeated Alex Needham of Team Ultimate 16-6 in his semi-final before winning his final against Shamsudin Orshdin of Kangchul 19-5 (12 point gap stoppage). In the Seniors Kieran won his semi-final against Ashley Hutton of Team Ultimate 19-11 and then won his final against Jamie Allen of Puma 24-15. Daniel Brown won another Gold medal in the higher grade group, competing in the advanced division at only green belt. Daniel won peewee -27kgs after winning Joe Latto of Team Ultimate 14-12 he then won his final against Kai Law of Swat 13-5. 4 players were in straight finals, Daniel Carpanini won gold in the children male -45kgs division by K.O after a very well timed head shot against Satar Wahid of Bozdag Tkd. Stella Whitehead was the next to win Gold by K.O after she stopped her opponent from Scotland with a reverse turning kick in the senior female +73kgs. Ben Tucker won his final in the children male +52kgs after winning his match 33-3 against Luke Allott of Swat Tkd and James Wood won the last Gold of the day in the children male -49kgs division after he defeated Alim Magdad of Bozdag Tkd 13-8.
Silver Medals Daniel Brown won his 2nd medal of the day in the peewee novice -27kgs group, he defeated Jason Mann of Quest Tkd by K.O before losing a very close final against Oliver Hammond of Team Ultimate 20-25, Daniel B winning a Gold & Silver. Daniel Carpanini aged 13yrs again tried the higher age group and fought in the Junior male -45kgs and lost out in his final Alex Needham of Team Ultimate after a well fought match. Gold & Silver for Daniel C.
Bronze Medals Ben Tucker won his 2nd medal of the day competing in the higher age group again Ben only 13yrs old came away with a Bronze after losing a very close semi-final against Jordan Lill of Team Ultimate 21-26. Gold & Bronze for Ben. Ryan Butt was unlucky to only come away with a Bronze in the children male -37kgs after he drew his semi-final against Finlay Benton of Team Ultimate 8-8, he lost out on golden point.

Scorpions took a Team of 13 players down to Southampton for this years event with over 140 competitors took part. A mixture of experience and novices travelled down with some players competing for the 1st time in the older age groups.
Scorpions won 3 Gold's, Scott Sutherill again decided to fight up a weight competing in the senior male -68kgs instead of 63's. Scott won his 1st match 14-3 against Mozam Ali of Dragon Tkd in the semi-final before winning his final against Thomas Concannon of Ireland 16-3. Another Gold came from Kieran Young again chosing to compete in the higher weight group of junior male -55kgs for more matches. Kieran won his semi-final against Jake Walter Pocock of Gibraltar 17-6 then won his final against Thomas Gater of Tkd Academy Liverpool 16-14 after the Liverpool Player was moved down from -59kgs after know one entered his group. The final Gold came from Hannah Mayes who won her 1st gold since coming back from a hand injury. Hannah won her final in the female +68kgs against Nadia Beck of Survivor 15-3.
5 Silvers were one by Ben Tucker who won 2 silvers after he narrowly lost out in his Cadet final against James Warnurst of BTS on golden point he then lost a very close match in his 1st ever Junior final against Jordan Lill of Team Ultimate 23-24 after he won his semi-final in the Junior division only aged 13yrs. Daniel Carpanini was another player to miss out on golden point, Daniel won his 1st match by k.o after already leading the match 7-0, he then won his semi-final and lost out in the final on golden point in the cadet -41kgs, he also like Ben fought for the 1st time in Juniors and did an amazing job at only 13yrs old losing his quarter final again by golden point. Kevin Lidgett was another Silver medal winner in the senior male -87kgs. Kev won his 1st match 13-1 and then won his semi-final 9-3 before losing out in the final against a player from BTS 11-12. Daniel Brown only a green belt won silver in the combined peewee male -27kgs division. Daniel won his 1st match 6-1 and then won his semi-final against Kai Law of Swat 14-8, Daniel then faced Taekwondo Hall of Fame winner Frederik Emil Olsen from Danish Club Norrebro, Daniel gave a great account of himself against the much more experienced Frederik losing out 10-3.
And Bronzes won by James Wood competed for the 1st time at -49kgs and took Bronze after losing to Jack Lockwood of Team Ultimate. Callum Hunter also won Bronze in the children male -45kgs after losing out in his semi-final. Dominic Naylor competing in the Junior Male -45kgs and was unlucky not to progress to the final after winning his quarter final he dislocated his toe while competing and had to withraw from his semi-final Bronze for Dom.
Brandon Naylor was unlucky in the Junior male -45kgs group losing in the quarter finals and Jamie Smeaton also competed in the child male -41kgs group.
Well to everyone who competed some close matches and experienced gained by many.

A Big Well Done goes to Scorpion Member Nigel Jackson who recently took part in the Bupa Great North Run on 18th September 2011. The Great North Run had over 54,000 runners and was a half Marathon which is 13.1 miles.
Nigel did the run in aid of Scorpion Taekwondo and raised money to buy new equipment for the the club.
Nigel completed the run in 2hours 22 minutes 27 seconds a MASSIVE WELL DONE! and thankyou for all your hard work!
Thankyou to everyone who sponsored Nigel, below is Nigel with his runners t-shirt, his medal and some of the students with some of the equipment the Nigel helped raise money for.

Scorpions had a fantastic weekend at this years British Open held in Manchester over the weekend of 1st & 2nd October. More than 450 competitors from all over the World took part with World & European Champions in attendance. The team had some excellent performances and won 4 medals over the weekend. There was also the new and exciting tag team event on saturday evening which Scorpions were also involved in.
Scorpions had only one player competing on saturday Niall Gibson, who was competing for the 1st time at senior level at an A-Class International event, Niall just out of juniors competed in the senior male -58kgs division. A tough draw saw Niall up against 2010 Youth Olympic Champion from Israel HAIMOVITZ, GILI, Niall eased to victory with a 10-4 win over the Junior Champion. Niall lost out in his next match being drawn against a seasoned senior and British Team Member Kieron Briggs, however Niall gave a great Performance and fianally lost in a very high scoring match 26-17. In the evening Scorpions had another player competing this time in the tag team event with Daniel McGeoghan being part the Great Britain Team V Rest of the World. The 5 man team each fought one round of 1minute each followed by 2 rounds on 5 minute tag team Taekwondo. Daniel did a great job and helped the Team win.
Sunday saw a very busy day for the Scorpion coach's with the 1st 7 matches of the day awaiting scorpion players. Dominic Naylor was 1st up in the Junior male -45kgs and was drawn against Tyron Moores-Duffield of NTC who was part of the GB Team for the European Cadet Championships in June, However 2 well timed head shots from Dominic were decisive and Dominic won his quarter final match 7-1. In the semi-final Dom was up against the 2011 Austrian Open Champion SAQR, OSAYD from German club TAEKWONDO OZER E.V, Dom this time winning his match 2-0. In the final Dominic faced British National Champion from Gurumu CHANA, RAJVEER SINGH, after a well fought match Dominic lost 0-3 and won his 1st Junior medal, SILVER FOR DOMINIC! In the same division Dominics brother Brandon Naylor lost his quarter final in a very close match 2-4 against FREIER, HENRIK of SONGOKUS TAEKWONDO E.V. of Germany.
Another Silver medal was won by Kieran Young in the Junior male -51kgs. Kieran won a very exciting quarter final against Egyptian WASFY, HOSSAM 11-9, Kieran then faced GB Team National Team Member PEARCE, FEYI of the London Team, Kieran coming out on top winning his semi-final 3-2. In the final Kieran faced GOLINO, ENRICO 2011 Dutch Open Bronze medallist from Germany, The match was very very close with both competitors being in front in different stages of the match, however Kieran was unlcuky to finally lose the match 4-5. SILVER FOR KIERAN! In the weight above Aiden Morley competed in the junior male -55kgs, Aiden faced a tough draw being drawn against 2011 German National Champion KASSEM, AHMED. The German who also won medals at this years Dutch & Austrian Opens came out the winner 2-9 and also was the eventual winner of the group.
Our two juniors girls were up next with Emily Watson in the junior -42kgs being drawn against GB Team mate Katie Bradley of South Hams. Emily who won Bronze at the European Cadet Championships earlier this year was very unlucky to lose on referees discision after a 0-0 draw against Bradley. Hannah Mayes competed in the junior +68kgs division drawing Luxembourgs BINDINGER, ANNA, Bindinger who also competed in the senior competition towered above hannah. The match was full of incident and hannah lost 3-6 after receiving 3 full point deductions. SILVER FOR HANNAH!
In the seniors Scott Sutherill competed in the senior male -63kgs again an unlucky draw saw him up against ASHNA, MILAD of Sweden in his 1st round match, Milad 2010 -21 European silver medallist defeated Scott 6-12 and eventually won Bronze at the event. Stella Whitehead only a few weeks back from injury competed in the senior female -73kgs. Stella who was ranked No1 in Europe in 2010 has since been plagued by injuries 1st braking her hand before braking her foot at the British Nationals earlier this year. Stella was drawn against German National Team player AKCAN, MELDA, Akcan 2011 German National Champion & 2010 -21 European Champion caught Stella with a well timed head shot which caught stella in her nose, unfortunateley for Stella her nose started bleeding and the paramedic wouldnt let her continue and was forced to stop the match.
Last up was Caroline Fisher who competed in the senior female -53kgs. Caroline former European Silver medallist was on top form and eased through her 1st rounf match against Norway National Team Member
MIENNA, SIV ANJA 14-1 with the ref stopping the contest before the end of the match. In the quarter final Caroline faced PETTERSSON, JOHANNA Swedish National Team member who competed for her German club side BSV FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Pettersson who defeated Russia's ZHURAVLEVA, DARIA 11-1 was a tought opponent and took the match to golden point with the score at 9-9, Caroline scored a well timed shot to win 10-9. In her semi-final Caroline faced Chinese Taipei's LEE, HSING-HUA a former World Junior medallist, the match was very close and again went down to golden point after Caz drew 2-2. Caz was unlucky this time and the match ended 3-2 to Taipei who eventually won her final 12-5 against her team mate HUNG, SHIH-HAN. BRONZE FOR CAROLINE!
Well Done to the whole team who took part and supporters who travelled to Manchester to support everyone!

Scorpions took a Team of 16 players to the 2nd NTC Open held in Nottingham. There were over 180 players taking part from alover the UK. The Team had a very hectic day winning 29 out of the 35 matches fought and winning 11 Gold, 4 Silver & 4 Bronze AND 1ST PLACE TEAM OVERALL.
Gold Medallists - Oliver Ball (Tony Morgans) won Gold in the PeeWee Novice -22kgs division winning 3 matches 10-6 against Kangchul, 12-0 against Ying Yang and an oustanding final 14-1 against NTC. Ben Carson (Tony Morgans) also won Gold in the Cadet Advanced -33kgs group again winning 3 matches and defeating Ultimate Tkd 10-9, Chi Tkd 13-4 and his final again against Ultimate 11-8. James Wood (Scorpion Tkd Centre) won Gold in the Cadet Advanced -45kgs division winning his semi-final against Kang Han 16-3 and then won a very entertaining final against another Scorpion Team mate (Daniel Carpanini) 16-15. Daniel Brown (Scorpion Tkd Centre) won 2 Golds winning both Novice & Advanced PeeWee -26kgs groups. Daniel won his Novice section after defeating NTC 17-5 in the semi-final then winning his final against JM Tkd by 22-3. In the Advanced section Daniel won his semi-final against SWAT Tkd 11-9 before his final victory winning his final against Harangee 12-3. Ben Tucker (Scorpion Tkd Centre) won Gold in Cadets after his own weight group was mixed he won his only match by k.o after leading 7-0 against the player from Harangee. Emily Watson (Scorpion Tkd Centre) was on brilliant form winning 2 Golds after nobody entered Cadet -41kgs and no Junior 42's opted to fight in the weight categorys above. Emily in fact ended up fighting the same two girls in both divisions. In the Cadet -44kgs group Emily beat Hollie Best Dutton of Liverpool Tkd 13-10 and then defeated Anelia Asfar of Ultimate Tkd in the Final 19-18. Her 2nd Gold came in the Junior -44kgs against the same two girls this time by bigger margains winning the girl from Liverpool Tkd in the semi-final 14-10 before defeating Ultimate Tkd again in the final this time with a score of 24-18. Niall Gibson (Scorpion Tkd Centre) was another Gold winner in the Senior -54kgs division winning his semi-final by k.o against NTC he then won another all Scorpion Final against Kieran Young 14-10. Kieran Young (Scorpion Tkd Centre) won Gold in his Junior division of -51kgs after winning his semi-final by k.o he then went onto win his final against Ultimate 18-11. Caroline Fisher (Scorpion Tkd Centre) was moved up to senior -62kgs after no players entered her weight division, this however didnt stop Caz winning both her matches by big margins defeating Charlotte Warren of Kings by 12-0 and then Joanne Tollervey in the final of Kang Han 15-2.
Silver Medallists- Daniel Carpanini (Tony Morgans) won a silver after defeating Ben Morley of NTC in the semi-final 17-5 he then lost out in an all Scorpion final 15-16. Kieran Young (Scorpion Tkd Centre) won another medal this time in the seniors, winning silver in the senior -54kgs group. Kieran won his semi-final against South Dublin 6-3 before losing again another all Scorpion final 10-14. Ryan Holmes (Scorpion Tkd Centre) won Silver after entering Novices for the 3rd time in an Open finally competed against another Novice after two previous outings against black belts. Ryan lost a very close final in the senior -87kgs division against Elite Tornado's after drawing the match 13-13 lost out on golden point. Our other Silver came from Kevin Lidgett (Scorpion Tkd Centre) in the senior advanced -87kgs division, Kev won his semi-final against NTC 5-2 before losing out in the final against Black Widdows 16-17.
Bronze Medallists - Dominic & Brandon Naylor (Scorpion Tkd Centre) both won Bronze medals in the Junior -45kgs division Brandon winning his 1st match against NTC 9-5 before losing out in his semi-final 4-6, Dominic was unlucky to lose his semi-final to NTC after losing his match on golden point. Callum Couper (Scorpion Tkd Centre) was another medallist winning Bronze in the Novice cadet -33kgs winning his quarter final against NTC 6-5 he then lost his semi-final against Ultimate 1-3. On the Advanced cadet -37kgs Ryan Butt (Tony Morgans) won Bronze after winning his quarter final against NTC on golden point lost to Ultimate in the semi-final.
A Big Well done to all the players who competed great Team spirit and a fantastic set of results!
